What are you eating?

To start off any new attempt at regaining our health and wellness we must take a realistic look at what we are putting into our bodies. Remember, FOOD is FUEL and ENERGY. What type of fuel or energy are you putting into your body? Is it healthy and nutritious, thus, allowing our bodies to perform at their best and most efficient capabilities? Or are we filling ourselves with "fake" energy, fatty nutrients, sweets and comfort foods that stick around and get comfortable on our waists, hips, bellies and thighs? If the later, you've probably noticed that you have no energy at all or that its up and down all day long. ----- To find out what you are REALLY eating, for AT LEAST 3 days to a week, WRITE down everything you eat and drink and if you're willing, write down the calories as well. I promise this will be the biggest eye-opener to what you are actually eating for fuel. Once you recognize what your real food choices are you will be more willing to start making improvements. ----- For some basics on what and how much you SHOULD be eating, go to www.mypyramid.gov This is the USDA's site for basic nutrition info. Good luck with your food log, if anything it might keep you from eating that donut just because you wont want to write it down! :)

Time Change

We'll be bumping our workout time back to 8:30 for the next few weeks, so hooray we get to sleep in a little longer! Those who may be looking for a "bootcamp" to boost their workout experience can join me at 7 am at the Utah Baseball Academy with personal trainers, Tim Misewicz and Dori Madsen. For this month of February they'll be focusing our workouts in the weightroom and teaching us how to properly use the equipment as well as a variety of lifts to be able to broaden our weightroom horizons. Its only $29 for the month, but these trainers are usually $100 a session, so we're pretty lucky they're helping us out with their vast knowledge and experience in helping people reach their goals. Let me know if you want more info., but we'll hopefully for sure see you Saturday at 8:30.

How is your Fitness Resolution coming?

The end of January is already upon us that means its time to check how we are doing on our goals for the New Year. Hopefully you're still on track, kind of on track or are going to get back on track! Wherever you're at, now is a good time to re-evaluate to find out what is working and what is holding you back, make an adjustment and push ahead to the next point of your goal. Our little fitness group has doubled its numbers at our Saturday morning workouts and I hope we'll continue to grow and help each other get healthier and happier! Speaking of Saturday the 30th, we'll be meeting at the same time, 8 am, and same place, church on 2700 w surrey rd (5735 s) for another great workout. Bring your spouse, bring a friend, a neighbor, anyone who is looking for a little boost in their fitness they are all welcome! Hope to see you then! -- If you need help with your goals I'd be happy to help:)

Merry Christmas!

Wow! The Christmas Holiday is upon us, how exciting! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and that it will find you and your families well and thankful for the many gifts we've been given; especially, the gifts that are offered by Jesus Christ. I hope we will all take the time to ponder the true meaning of Christmas and carry that with us in to the New Year. Thank you all for your love and support and hope that you will enjoy this time with your families. Our group will reconviene at the beginning of the new year as for when and where, that is yet to be decided so keep an eye out. Also with the new year there may be great news of another boot camp with NextFit personal trainers starting in January. I will definately be spreading the word when more info is announced, for now, keep your fingers crossed! We love you and wish for all the best!

Grateful to Workout

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was a great one for me to be with all of my family and my parents had some great news to share! This year the turkey dinner was great because I didn't feel guilty enjoying all of its courses. I played basketball the night before for an hour and a half and lifted that morning to help have a guilt free calorie splurge, it was great! Now that this Holiday is over I'm going to keep up the exercising and eating well so when the Christmas Feast rolls around it will also be enjoyable. So, lets get together this Saturday (Dec. 5) @ 7 am in the church gym (2700 w surrey rd) to get us ready for all of our holiday parties! Keep up the good work on your weekly workouts! See ya Saturday!

Fun with Yumi Lee!

We turned our workout up a notch and did a weight training circuit with Yumi Lee on my NextFit Keychain Trainer. She's trained Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Demi Moore and now Lance, Leora and me, how cool is that! She worked our core and legs with some cardio mixed in, and the music kept us pushing, it was Awesome! We're looking forward to this Saturday's (Nov. 28th) workout to help burn off all that yummy turkey and pie from our wonderful Thanksgiving feasts. To be in the church gym (2700 w. surrey rd) this week we have to go early so we're meeting at 7:00 am (unless I can change locations, so double check here again before sat. for any changes). I know its early for a holiday weekend but it will get ya going and excited to put up the Christmas lights that day!
